We’re happy to announce the biggest update to Alarmhandler since the initial launch back in 2015. Alarmhandler v4 launches today and makes video alarm recording much simpler. Read all about it below!
Connect old phones to your security system using Alarmhandler
The Alarmhandler app lets you control an SMS based alarm system and in addition connect IP cameras for motion detection and store recordings when detections occur. This lets you validate alarms and never worry about what’s actually happening when you’re not at home. With Alarmhandler 3.6 that launches today, we now also let you set up old phones as motion detection devices.
On the old phone, you need our new Alarmhandler Sensor app that’s also related today – you can read more about it here.
Alarmhandler is the only small office / home security app on the market that lets you integrate both IP cameras, phones, and SMS based alarms into one cohesive security solution. The app update also contains various small improvements and bug fixes.
Kind regards
The Alarmhandler Team
Alarmhandler now support IP camera email
Alarmhandler changes the method used to transfer recordings from cameras to the Alarmhandler servers. From Alarmhandler 3.5 that launches Friday June 28 2019, you should use email and not ftp. Read more below.
Updated Android SMS Alarm Control
Our SMS alarm control app Alarmhandler ships today in version 3.4.2 on Android. If you’re using on iOS or just using Alarmhandler on Android to only control IP cameras, then you don’t need to worry about the change.
In our new update, we’ve totally removed the “Send SMS” permission from the app, so you don’t have to give this permission under Settings-Alarm anymore. Just open the Alarmhandler app and try to tap the refresh button in order to request status from your SMS alarm. This will form an SMS that is ready to send to your alarm to request status. You will be asked what app should be used to send the SMS. Choose always to use the “Messaging” app (this will avoid the prompt in the future). The Messaging app opens up with the prefilled SMS. Just tap send. You can now go back to the Alarmhandler app.
Kind regards

Alarmhandler SMS alarm control app for Android
Our SMS alarm control app Alarmhandler ships today in version 3.4.1. Due to changes in Google Play most SMS alarm apps will stop working as of January 2019. If you want to continue using your SMS alarm with an app, you need to look for an updated app such as Alarmhandler. It’s been updated to conform with the new Google Play restrictions. In addition, Alarmhandler is now also fully translated into German.
