After you have connected your IP camera to the local network and set it up to upload photos/video to connected to Alarmhandler via mail, the next step is to check if everything is working as it should.
Then turn on the alarm (tap ON on the home screen) and try to activate recording by moving in from of the cameras. Within a minute, you should get push notifications and be able to see new recordings in the app (do a pull to refresh the home screen, or camera recording subscreen).
If no film clips appear
- Check the camera’s settings are correct, many cameras have the built-in web page a test feature that check that mails can be sent from the camera. If the images show up in the app you know the settings are correct.
- You might also need to adjust the camera’s field of view to – note that many cameras have a quite narrow angle in which they are able to detect movement. You might have to move the camera further away to cover the desired area.
You can also try to email an image up to 500KB in size to the mail account associated with the camera. If this appears in the app, there’s still something not correctly setup on the camera. Note: most IP cameras have a Test Email button to verify that email settings have been specified correctly for the camera.
